Brian began playing violin at age 7, adding the viola a little later on during a High School shortage. A champion of conservation, Brian’s first ambition was to advocate for and work towards the protection and stewardship of the planet’s remaining natural and wild places, work he advanced during his tenure at The Nature Conservancy and then as a fundraiser for New York City’s Department of Parks & Recreation. Something was missing though, a creative outlet, so he decided to resurrect music, this time the viola, studying with Stephanie Griffin and completing a Masters of Music at the Conservatory at Brooklyn College in 2008. Today he recycles restlessly and freelances the rich and varied NYC music scene, genres spanning from early to new music, from west to east but with a special love for chamber music and the string quartet repertoire.
