On October 25, 2025 at the Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew in Clinton Hill, we perform three powerful–and very different–works that celebrate the sounds of nature and of folk music, from Beethoven’s “merry gathering of country folk” and “shepherd’s song” to Ives’s depiction of the quietude of Central Park interrupted by marching bands and street parades, to Gabriela Lena Frank’s evocation of Incan “chasqui” runners who delivered messages between high peaks in the Andes.

Lena Frank: Chasqui and Coqueteos from Leyendas: An Andean Walkabout
Ives: Central Park in the Dark
Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral”
