WE DEEPLY REGRET THAT TODAY’S PERFORMANCE IN FORT GREENE PARK IS CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.
The SOB kicks off its 20th season with our free and open park concert for all. Come enjoy Beethoven’s Fifth with a picnic, your friends, your family, and your neighbors in Fort Greene Park. An open rehearsal will precede the concert at 11am if you can’t make it at 2pm!
Beethoven’s Fifth has been part of the cultural vocabulary for more than 200 years; its opening 4 notes alone have taken on a life far beyond the concert hall. We return to it at the start of a milestone season for the SOB, one that takes us into 2027—the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death. For an orchestra founded in Brooklyn around the idea that great orchestral music belongs to everyone, there seems no better place to begin than outside, together, with Beethoven.
